Shiatsu is a pseudoscientific type of Japanese bodywork based on qi meridians and other notions from traditional Chinese medicine. Shiatsu is derived from the earlier Japanese massage method known as anma,  which was popularized in the twentieth century by Tokujiro Namikoshi (1905-2000).
