Description

Botanical
Classification Jasminum grandiflorum
Constituents Salicylic acid, linalool, pyridine, nicotinate and other alkaloids
Properties Act as an astringent, anti-bacterial,
anti-viral, anti-depressant, relaxant cooling and bitter herb, hormonal balancer.
Internal Uses Beneficial for the treatment of:
Infections combined with high fevers. Can be used as supportive therapy for cancer of the bones, lymphatic nodes and breast cancer. Essential oil from the flowers is considered an anti-depressant and relaxant, especially for postnatal depression. During childbirth it may relieve pain and strengthen contractions.
External Uses Conjunctivitis. Use the infusion to cool inflamed, bloodshot eyes. Sunstroke. Dermatitis and skin disorders, boils. Mouth ulcers and teeth disorders (gargle). A compress can be made to treat heat stroke as well as headaches.
Other Aromatherapy. Use in soaps, creams & candles.
Preparation Infusion: Pour one cup of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of flowers. Cover and infuse for 10-15 minutes. Strain. Drink 2-3 times per day.
Hot compress: Put 1-2 teaspoons of flowers into a facecloth, wrap and dip into ½ a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes. Allow to cool enough not to burn the skin, squeeze excess water from the facecloth and apply to affected area.
Safety and
Precaution Use with care during pregnancy. It may dull the mind when trying to concentrate. Do not take the Jasmine essential oil internally. The berries are poisonous.
