Properties Anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, antispasmodic, bronchodilator, anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic and anti-viral
Internal Uses Beneficial for the treatment of:
Heart diseases, Alzheimer’s, diabetes (Aspalathin improves insulin resistance), digestion, allergies, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, kidney (stones) and liver disorders, stomach cramps, diarrhoea, infant colic, hyperacidity, headaches, nervous tension and allergies.
Protects cells from free radical damage. Promotes nerve and brain function and heart health. Supports bone strength and healthy weight loss. Boosts body’s overall immunity against infection.
External Uses Highly beneficial for skin and hair health. May be used to treat eczema, acne, rashes and sunburn. Add strained Rooibos tea to a bath or directly over affected area as a hot press.
Other Rooibos is caffeine free. Use in creams and soaps.
Preparation Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of herb. Cover and steep for 5-10 minutes, strain and drink.
Hot compress: Put 1-2 teaspoons of herb into a facecloth, wrap and dip into ½ a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes. Allow to cool enough not to burn the skin, squeeze excess water from the facecloth and apply to affected area.
